We're Baaaaaack!
Late nights, lots of coffee (so much that we're eating the beans raw), a few dozen 5 Hour Energy shots... Praying, chanting, and multiple induced trances... Geeks, techs, swamis, and shamans.... and finally something worked - we switched hosting services.  No, we don't know what was wrong, nor to we care.  MoWiz is back, and we've got plenty to report over the past 30 days.  Coming right up!

Holy Smokes!
Have you previewed the latest tracks from NCNC?  If not, you're missing out!  The first track, a prelude, features a unique song structure and some of the most passionate Evans background vocals ever heard!  The second track, the title track, is a midtempo number in the best TFM tradition.  New tunes are being previewed nightly for the next few nights.  Head over to MySpace.com/pleasurado for a full listen!

NEW ALBUM PREVIEW BEGINS ON JANUARY 5!
The forthcoming album/opera by The Floating Men, "No Clocks, No Calendars, Act I,” will debut on the "NC, NC" Myspace page as a serial beginning January 5.  Each evening, between 9:00 pm and midnight Central Standard Time (US), a new song will be posted along with corresponding passages from the annotated libretto in the blog area.  The songs will be posted in order so listeners can follow along as the story unfolds. The opera, part sex farce, part love story, and part supernatural chiller, is set on sea island off the coast of South Carolina, where a liberated, enlightened hippie enclave interacts warmly with the local culture, dominated by the Afro-Caribbean descendants of slaves. The opera celebrates Low Country heritage and diversity, champions sexual liberties and explores the dark consequences when basic human rights are withheld.

A Once-in-a-Lifetime Concert Event

"Cause I sure as hell ain't doing this again!" –Holmes

November 1 2008: Halloween Candlelight Serenade at CHEZ HOLMES!!!
A Halloween Weekend candlelight concert in JEFF HOLMES' OWN HOME? Are you kidding me? At the Crack of November? Food prepared by his own hands? It can't be true!  Or can it?

Holmes will open the doors to his magic kingdom and invite you inside for an intimate concert, dinner, and stories.  Rummage through his drawers!  Look in his medicine chest!  Check under the sofa!  Learn everything you wanted to know about Holmes in this once-in-a-lifetime chance to see Holmes in his (un)natural habitat.

Seating charts available at the online box office by visiting the Online Ticket Office.  Tickets range from $25 (upstairs on Holmes' bed watching simulcast on the plasma...yes, that's right - Holmes' bed!) to $100 (practically in Holmes' lap by the fireplace....wait....is there a theme somewhere in there?)

Um.....we were just kidding about rummaging through his drawers and all, but you're welcome to go through the trash if you'd like.

HELP CREATE THE NEXT TFM ALBUM COVER
The next Floating Men album, No Clocks No Calendars, is set for a late 2008 release - and you can help design the album cover!  Here are the details, direct from Floatingland Central:

Step 1:  Upload your entries to "The Floating Men Cover Art From Hell" group on Flickr.
Step 2:  Wait and see if your submission wins.
Step 3:  Get $200 if your photo is selected for the cover.
Step 4:  Get $25 if your photo is selected as a supplemental image.

What images to send?  According to Holmes, "Its your first summer away from home and all the world's a beach.  Classes don't start until after Labor Day, which seems like a lifetime away.  Young love, innocence, lust and a hunger for new adventures glow inside you and tingle on the end of your skin.  But the shadows stir with unsettling omens of loss, heartbreak, ghosts, evil spirits, Gullah legends, and murder. . . Photographs, paintings, drawings, etc. are all welcome.  Yellowed polaroids and other dated media are especially encouraged."  Click here for more.

MORE FULL BAND SHOWS!
The bribes have been paid (cash, liquor and free copies of Pleasurado!), and the border patrol will be letting Scot Evans back in the country!  It looks like there will be three new chances for you to get your TFM full-band fix this year.  Nashvegas, you're first - clear the calendar on July 26 and head down to the Basement.  Then its off to Eddie's Attic (Atlanta) on August 2, and Rhythm & Brews (Chattanooga) for the annual Labor Day Love Fest.  And if you can round up more cash, liquor and copies of Pleasurado!, maybe we'll be able to sneak Evans back into the country for more shows!

Preview New TFM Music!
Well, not really...but close.  Rumor has it that Holmes has set new words to an unreleased Floating Men song from the Tall Shadows era, and is readying the revamped (as in "vamped" and "revamped") tune for the next Floating Men album.

Did we say "unreleased?"  Bah!  There's no bootleg too rare, too hard to find, too obscure for the MoWiz Bootleg Collection.  Check out "Bad Dream" - a free download - and get a listen to what might be coming on the new Floating Men album!
